Media have a strong influence on the perception of the world, because they surround us daily and offer us various kinds of information. An important place in the media field is sport, through which today, as is sometimes the case, it communicates socially acceptable and desirable values. The main source of my master's thesis is the local or regional newspaper Zasavski tednik, which was published weekly in Trbovlje from 1948 to 1964. First chapters such as cultural history of reading and a brief insight into the history of the press and journalism serve as an overture to the main part of the master's thesis. I analyzed seventeen years or 842 issues of newspaper and found out to what extent sports were published. I concentrated on the Zasavje places of Trbovlje, Hrastnik and Zagorje and the sporting events in them. Sports, which exceeded five hundred posts, I presented in detail and demonstrated their action through the publication in the newspaper. I tried to shed light on the way in which they were reported and why so often they were written about them.
