The Bachelor thesis deals with political humour and how it is expressed through internet memesnowadays. This folkloric genre is particularly popular amongst millennial internet users. Political memes have become prominent during the election campaign for the new president of the United States of America in 2016. The author studiesSlovenian political memes on social media; she is most interested in Instagram profiles and Facebook pages that are dedicated to political memes, but she doesn't exclude the ones that post internet memes only occasionally – when a major political event takes place. The author also discusses the question of function of political memes, and ways, in which they diminish tensions, generated during unpleasant socio-political situations. She classifies political memes based on their subversion or support of the ruling politics, and according to whatare the memes about or whom are they targeting.
