In the thesis I present the student sculpture symposium Forma viva which took place between the years 1971 and 1975 in Ljubljana in Rožna dolina. Firstly, a short introduction about the history of placing sculptures into specially designed green areas and urban centers is made, which helps build my definition of the forma viva as a special form of public presentation of sculptures. Then, I move on to the brief presentation of four major Slovenian Forma vivas, which, with their specific execution, broke new ground in the field of contemporary sculpture production and presentation. The main topic of the Ljubljana Forma viva is segmented into three parts – the organizational background and circumstances of its occurence, the presentation of individual editions with their specifics and the attempt to interpret the individual sculptures and the relevant context. The text is accompanied by a rich image set and a map with outlined locations of the sculptures.
