Even though anyone would have thought that in the parish chronicles we would only find information about church activity these chronicles can be a valuable resource for studying the history of some cities. In addition to direct information about events in the place, it is between the lines of the parish chronicles that we can find and figure out how the wider processes and world events mirrored in small village and what was the attitude of people to these events. Of course, these chronicles are different from priest to the priest and therefore we have more information for a certain period, for next one less information or there is no information at all. Also, we should not forget a great deal of criticism when dealing with this data. In this master’s thesis is presented the history of Senožeče as the priests there wrote in the four books of parish chronicle, starting in 1856.
