The diploma thesis deals with the theme of furniture design for the home usage, the
primary function of which is to enable more privacy to the user. The aim of the project is
to design multifunctional furniture for people who share a room in which they sleep.
It is based on the concept of simple adaptation to space and it’s user. It is easly
transportable and modulary build. The product focuses primarily on blindfolding and
sound insulation, and secondary to solving the problem of storage (books, clothes, etc.)
and drying clothes. It also encourages office work in a standing position.
In the first part of the diploma thesis, a research-analytical phase is presented, which
includes an overview of macro trends on the market. This is followed by a user
experience that reveal problems mainly through surveys and interviews. Throughout the
conceptual phase, the course of the task is presented from the layout of the design
bases to the completion of the final concept. The final part is a more detailed
presentation of the ultimate solution, a multifunctional, modular and adaptable partition
wall, which answers the user's problems. This section also covers displays and
descriptions of individual pieces of furniture and illustrates possible scenarios of use.
