For people with disabilities, daily life can be full of small and large barriers that prevent them from living a full life. The United Nations Standard Rules on the Equalization of the Possibilities of Disabled Persons were introduced in 1993 with the aim of ensuring that people with disabilities enjoy the same rights as other citizens. To ensure these rights, careful and systematic planning is needed. Local authorities are usually responsible for a multitude of areas that affect people's everyday lives, and therefore bear special responsibility with non-governmental organizations, societies, institutions, centres for social work and other institutions.
Swedish disability organisations have developed a method known as Agenda 22, which aims to draw up disability policy plans based on the Standard Rules, which are supposed to be implemented for the fair and equal involvement of people with disabilities. The subject of the master's thesis is the review of disability policy in the area of the municipality of Kamnik, through the Agenda 22 standards, where I investigated the adherence to the established standards in the municipality and developed solutions that would contribute to better inclusion of people with disabilities in the municipality of Kamnik.
