Abstract

Title:
Zofka Kveder's The Mystery of a Woman and Her Life
Abstract:
The thesis aimed to analyse two of Zofka Kveder's literary works – a collection of short stories The Mystery of a Woman and a novel Her Life. The focus is on the literary characters of mothers and wives and their role in society at the beginning of the 20th century with the emphasis on their reaction to events that prevent them from fulfilling the expected role. I also examined the thematization of the construction of feminine identity and Zofka Kveder's feminist ideas expressed in her literary works.
