On particular meadow located in Sračja valley in the city of Črnuče, we had, besides among many ecologically important plant and animal species, noticed in Slovenia protected Fen orchid Liparis loeselii (L.) L.C. Rich. In this degree dissertation, we analyzed measures for protecting meadow habitats and listed them at the national level and the European Union. Later on, we checked the possible implementation of examples of good practice abroad to Slovenian legal framework of environmental legislation. Specifically, we were interested in possible assistance options offered to farmers by the state and in what way the measures of protection are written. Above all, we also researched what the zoning of areas is based on and possible enlargement of existing and new territories. A part of the dissertation is devoted to stakeholder issues. We described in what way the landowners and managers understand and are familiar with environmental policy and payments. From an analysis of the sources, we summarized and suggested aditional changes in the area of raising awareness of the stakeholder groups on the importance of nature conservation. We also suggested greater flexibility of measures on protected areas for which it turned out that are often only theoretically based and unrealizable in practice. Finally, we propose possible ways of protecting mentioned grassland habitat by introducing mowing and other practices.
