The idea of carrying out the diploma work was born at the time of practical training at the shelter in Ljubljana. In our work, we investigated the puppy's temperament at the shelter and looked if the number of dogs that had been misled in the last ten years had decreased. The data were obtained from those responsible at the shelter who performed the Campbell test on puppies under three months of age. We collected data between years 2009 and 2018. Most puppies were located in the category 2, which includes dominant and trusted dogs, advised against families with children and elderly. Caregivers of lively (dominant temper) puppies find it more difficult to cast and therefore the puppies land in shelters as abandoned. More than half of the dogs were categorized into the category 1 (very dominant dogs; their dominance borders on aggression in unpleasant situations) and the category 2, indicating a high proportion of dogs that are unsuitable for living with children and elderly and for whom it is recommended to be adopted by a person of experience in the field of cynology to properly train them. The second most common temperament of dogs in the shelter was from the category 4, suggesting a characteristically softer dog, with whom we have to be very careful when training, since it can be psychologically destroyed with more pronounced roughness. A quarter of the dogs in the shelter fell into the category 3 and represented dogs that could be adapted to any environment and are suitable for children and the elderly. When examining the number of dogs, we separated the animals into adult dogs and puppies. The number of dogs admitted to the shelter decreased, with a significant drop in the number of puppies.
