Safety in the area of handling of hazardous waste is coming in the foreground because more and more people are aware of the amount of the waste and the extent of the damage that inadequate management of them can inflict on human population and on the environment. Hazardous waste can impose this damage to an even greater extent because of its inherent hazardous properties. That is why this Master thesis presents a review of the scientific literature, legislation, best available techniques and current state of the art in hazardous waste management, namely their sorting, collection, processing, transport and final processing processes (disposal and incineration). Following analysis of the resources showed a current state of the area and from that arose the proposed concept presented in the last part. Which is providing, with focusing on particular crucial aspects, some appropriate measures that can work as fitting ways to handling the risk that hazardous waste management presents.
