Abstract
Diplomska naloga predstavi celotni proces ustvarjanja animiranega 3D modela, ki ga lahko uporabljamo na spletnih aplikacijah z obogateno resničnostjo (ang. Augmented Reality – AR). Najprej so razloženi relevantni teoretični koncepti, nato pa je predstavljen praktični primer izdelave 3D lika. Pri izdelavi 3D likov, je potrebno upoštevati način, kako bo lik predstavljen. Za 3D animacijo najpogosteje uporabljamo predstavitev s poligonskimi mrežami. Potrebno je razumeti tudi različne tehnike senčenja, s katerimi bo model upodobljen. Za stilizirane like je uporabno fizikalno osnovano senčenje, saj omogoči, da model izgleda sprejemljivo ne glede na osvetlitvene razmere. Pomemben je tudi način premikanja lika. Za ustvarjanje animiranih likov je v animacijski industriji standardna skeletna animacija. Pri tej tehniki uporabimo sistem med seboj povezanih kosti oz. ogrodje, ki posnema naravno gibanje z uporabo konceptov kot je inverzna kinematika. Pri modelih, ki bodo uporabljeni v spletnih AR aplikacijah, je potrebno razumeti tudi kako se bo model izvozil iz programa za modeliranje in kakšne omejitve ima izbrani format. Za splet in AR postaja standardna uporaba glTF (GL transmission format). Cilj naloge je ustvariti animiran lik, ki ga bo preprosto uporabiti v spletnih aplikacijah z AR.

Title:Creation of an animated model for web based augmented reality application
Abstract:
The diploma thesis presents the entire workflow of creating an animated 3D character that can be used in web and mobile AR applications. First, the relevant theoretical concepts are explained, next a practical example of 3D character creation is looked at. One of the first things to be taken in consideration when creating a 3D character is how the character will be presented. The most common for purposes of 3D animation is presentation with polygonal meshes. Then it is necessary to understand how the model is rendered using different shading techniques. Even when creating stylized characters physically based rendering is useful as it allows the model to look acceptable regardless of lighting conditions. Another important aspect to consider is how the character is going to move. For creating animated characters the technique known as skeletal animation is the standard in the industry. Skeletal animation employs a system of connected bones or armature that models natural movements using concepts like inverse kinematics. For models meant to be used in web and AR applications we also have to consider how the finished product is going to be exported and the limitations that come with that type of format. For web and AR the modern standard is glTF (GL transmission format). The goal of this thesis is to create an animated character that will then be easily loaded and interacted with in a Web based AR app.
