This Diploma thesis, entitled Lingerie Collection Bathory, presents the development of designing lingerie, made predominately with elastic bands. The purpose of the collection is to create wearable pieces for everyday use, made of materials normally connected with undergarments, but which are usually solely used in bra straps, rather than as the main material for the actual garments.
The goal is to create a collection which is not only functional but also fashionable. Fashionable accessories include various straps and ribbons that are tied around one’s body.
The theoretical part explores underwear, its historical development, and takes a closer look at the garments of the 1950s. Furthermore, it looks into the iconic New Look and the Pin Up art, as all of the mentioned aspects played a crucial role in the development and the design of the collection.
The experimental part presents the designing of the Bathory underwear collection based on the findings from the theoretical part. The inspiration behind the work, the target group, and the aesthetic which guided the visual appearance of the collection are all described in this part. The collection is also stylised and photographed.
