In my diploma thesis, I explored how search engines work, focusing on the largest search engine Google. I took a closer look at the algorithms that rank web pages in the search results. Later on, I explored the procedures for website optimization.
I researched the search engine optimization techniques with a focus on user experience and found them to be intertwined with one another. With a poorly optimized website, we will not organically attract new visitors, and without a good user experience, these visitors will bounce and never return to our site, making SEO optimisation redundant.
In the last part of my thesis, I transferred the theory to a practical example. I optimized the online store of boutique olive oil Bosco Monte. While optimizing the page, I focused on improving the user experience and also on optimizing for the search engines. In the end, I tried to measure and interpret the optimization results. They tend to show up only after a while and that is why I outlined the tools we use to measure them and critically evaluated my work.
