Abstract
V magistrskem delu predstavljam različne načine zaščite hrbtnih strani slik na platnu. V začetku naloge opisujem pomen in zgodovinski razvoj hrbtnih zaščit. V zaključku povzemam ugotovitve in rezultate svojega dela.

Title:Protection of the reverse of a pantings
Abstract:
In my master's thesis I present various ways of protecting the back side of a painting on canvas. In the first part, I describe the meaning and historical development of protection of the reverse sides of paintings. The main part of the dissertation encompasses the presentation of various materials that are being used for the protection of the back side of a painting on canvas. On the basis of the collected data I suggest the optimum protection of the back of the painting Saint Judoc, which was, at the time when I was completing the dissertation, in the conservation-restoration process at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, Restoration Centre (ZVKDS RC). I describe my inspection of the conditions of the church into which the painting shall return after the completed process, since the environment in which paintings are kept and exhibited plays a crucial role in the selection of the optimum kind of protection of their backsides. The dissertation is also comprised of the presentation of the painting in question as well as of the description of the conservation-restoration procedures performed at the ZVKDS RC. In the conclusion, I sum up the findings and results of my work. The annex includes report of the conservation-restoration process performed on the painting Saint Judoc and a schematic review of possible solutions for protecting the reverse side of the paintings on canvas, which can help professionals choose an appropriate kind of protection of the back side of a painting. The schematic review is written on the basis of data from literature, collected during my research.
