The final assignment shows the manufacturing of ribs on a large series of tool inserts for caps using die-sinking EDM. The central problem is the low rate of material removal, which is a consequence of the physical principle of the die-sinking EDM process. With a suitable clamping device for simultaneous machining of several tool inserts, it is possible to achieve faster material removal rates during rough machining. This seminar paper introduces measures that help to shorten process preparation times, processing, while greatly reducing the chances of occurring errors. We have found that by using a clamping device for several inserts at the same time, we not only shorten the production time of the batch, but also make it very easy for operators to work in several other departments of the toolshop.
