The Master thesis is focused on developing speaking skill at A2 and B1 levels in Italian and Slovene as foreign or second languages with the help of study materials. The theoretical part consists of explanation of some key words where the spoken production is put into focus. Furthermore, the productive skill of speaking in teaching foreign language and developing speaking skill are defined. Later on, the flipped learning approach is presented. The latter is still asserting itself but it has been used in the Republic of Slovenia. The aims of the empirical part are (1) to find out whether the coursebooks for Slovene and Italian as foreign languages develop speaking skill and whether the coursebooks guide the learners in discovering the characteristics of their future oral texts; and (2) to analyse the steps of teaching process or formation of oral presentations.
