Abstract
Z razumevanjem vloge ogljikovega monoksida (CO) v odzivu na stresne dejavnike v celicah sesalcev se je razvil interes za načrtovanje in sintezo spojin, ki nadzorovano sproščajo CO. Skupino takih spojin s skupnim imenom imenujemo CORM-i. Zaradi biološke aktivnosti rutenija v oksidacijskem stanju +2 so CORM-i, kjer rutenij(II) predstavlja centralni atom, še posebej zanimivi. V diplomski nalogi sem na komercialno dostopen rutenijev(II) karbonilni prekurzor CORM-2 vezal O,O-β-diketonatni ligand dibenzoilmetan in dva N,N-liganda 2,2'-bipiridin ter 6-(piridin-2-il)piridin-3,4-dikarboksilat. Zaradi nastanka več izomerov pri N,N-ligandih, sem tekom laboratorijskega dela pripravil tudi [Ru(CO)2Cl2]n, iz katerega sem selektivno sintetiziral en trans-kompleks. Nastale produkte sem okarakteriziral z jedrsko magnetno resonanco, CHN elementno analizo, visokoločljivostno masno spektroskopijo (HRMS), IR in UV-Vis spektroskopijo. Rešena je bila tudi ena kristalna struktura kompleksa z O,O-ligandom.

Abstract:
With the understanding of the role of carbon monoxide (CO) in response to stressful factors in mammalian cells an interest in planning the synthesis of new compounds which controllably release CO has increased. CORM is a common abbreviation for carbon monoxide-releasing molecules. Due to known biological activity of ruthenium in oxidation state +2, CORMs with the ruthenium(II) as a central ion are especially interesting. In my thesis I have used commercially available ruthenium(II) carbonyl precursor CORM-2 to which one O,O-β-diketone ligand dibenzoylmethane and two N,N-ligands 2,2’-bipyridine and 6-(pyridin-2-yl)pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylate have been bound. Because more isomers have formed during the synthesis with N,N-ligands, [Ru(CO)2Cl2]n was also prepared, from which one trans-complex has been selectively synthesized. Prepared compounds were characterized with nuclear magnetic resonance, CHN elemental analysis, high-resolution mass spectroscopy as well as with IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. For one complex with O,O-ligand crystal structure has also been determined.
