Today, artemisinine and its derivatives are used for antimalarial treatment;
additionally artemisinine has antibacterial and antitumor activity. 1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes
(TO) are part of the synthetised substances that have a potential biological activity
against malaria vectors and tumors. I researched the modification of the unsimetrical
tetraoxane, which enables its bonding to a solid carrier. As starting materials I used 4-
methylcyclohexanone and ethyl 4-oxocyclohexane-1-carboxylate. I modified the
carboxyl functional group by its esterification with an alcohol that has an amine
functional group at its other end and obtained a solid product in 69 % yield. The amine
functional group enables the final bonding of the TO on the solid carrier. To test the
bonding of TO on a solid carrier, I chose carboxymethyl cellulose as a solid carrier,
which is videly used in different applications and TO can be bind to it by the formation
of an amide.
