This paper is dedicated to the work of Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, the two brothers who collected fairy tales and are today as popular and meaningful as ever – even about 200 years later. During the process of 7 editions, they changed the tales and made them more accessible for their readers, especially children, and adapted them to social norms. By comparing three different fairy tales in different editions, this paper tries to show the changes and development from the first (1812) to the last authorized edition in 1857.
