For several decades after the Second World War, Professor Janez Janžekovič was the main figure of Christian philosophy in Slovenia. In those times, which were extremely difficult for the relations between Marxists and Christians, he tried to open the path of dialogue. For that, he chose the field of ethics presupposing that Marxism is also an ethic and that Christianity is essentially an ethic, too. He wanted to show that between the two ethics there could exist a fundamental consonance, which would also open the possibility of cooperation between Marxists and Christians. He spoke about this in his articles published in the 1950ies. However, this raises the question of whether his interpretation of both Marxism and Christianity was adequate. These issues are taken up in this article and the author tries to clarify the positions of Professor Janžekovič in more detail
