This essay puts the restored origins of the theology study at the Unit in Maribor as a part of the Faculty of Theology, which became a part of the University of Ljubljana after 1990, in the context of the year 1968. Theologians, dedicated to the Council renewal of the Church, split up at the journal Znamenje and titular bishop Grmič. Priests, loyal to the Marxist ideology and the communist regime, influenced decisively the Pan-Slovenian situation and the fatal decisions in times of the occupation and revolution. A thorough scientific and critical examination of that period and its protagonists has yet to be conducted. In Slovenian circumstances, the study of theology is marginalised, but the issues of religions and God are becoming increasingly relevant.
