Undergraduate thesis deals with the Slovene Catholic lyric between 1854 and 1900 and the Catholic lyric, written by Urbana Jarnik. It tries to determine the extent to which the poets directly rely on the Bible in writing and in order to find out that extent, it seperates poems containing narrative elements from the Bible, poems with biblical motifs, quotes and symbols, and poems influenced by style, found in the Bible.
The second part of the analysis focuses on finding other means by which each poet embeds the religious theme. It also tries to determine the image of God in the poetry of each particular author and the way each author makes the lyrical subject turn to God.
