Let's imagine it is a holiday time. We are sorounded with the whole family and alltogether we are preparing that tasty, festive feast for the whole day or even more, just so we will finish it later in the evening, probbably in less than an hour. How come that food isn't considered as art, although we spent hours preparing it. How come this can only become an object of art when we draw, paint or take a photo of it. What is it, that this delicious artistic food differes from ordinary or should i call it formal art? Through the history of art, food and drink shaped an art motive, called still life, which was primarily used as material for studying drawing and painting. Composition gives us still objects and it doesn't burden us with the strong ideal concepts as opposite they offer calmness in which artist are free to correspond with demanding positions, light and color of still life elements. Still life is often known as an reflection of artistic viruosity and with it artist can show their knowledge of different expressive techniques. So what is happening in the still life background, what is the story of the food itself and at last what are the ethical aspects of contemporary uses of food as an art medium? These are the questions i am going to focus on and use them in the fine art educational preparation papir.
