Abstract
Rezultati za izbrano območje prikazujejo karte erozijske nevarnosti in odlaganja materiala.

Title:
Shear Stresses on Flood Areas during High Water Events : graduation thesis
Abstract:
High water events in flood areas are natural phenomena. To reduce the expected damage in these areas it is not appropriate to prevent these floods, but rather only to analyze and attempt to control them. On every high-water event it may also lead to erosion. As it is harder to examine the erosion processes, one way of determining them are empirical calculations of shear stress and further estimations of erosion and material deposition. In this thesis we demonstrate shear stresses in detail using several different methods, with which we can record possible erosion exposed areas. With combination of geological land structure and land use data we are able to predict possible areas of erosion and deposition of material. The flow of water in flood areas during high-water events causes great mechanical degradation of the soil. Soils are an important basis for life since they support the food production for human consumption. Erosion and deposition are a constant natural phenomenon, but these are noticed only when they occur on a large scale. Our analysis takes place on flood plains the river Sava along between the towns of Krško and Brežice. To process the previous calculations using five different methods, we used ArcGIS software. All results of selected area are shown at the end on soil erosion and material deposition maps.
