Abstract

Title:Solutions for prolonging dementia sufferers period of autonomy
Abstract:
This thesis is searching for solutions which would potenitally prolong the period of independent living and provide help in every-day-life of a Dementia patient. While exploring and studying the disease and it's symtoms, developement and course of dementia stages the most exposed/enhanced problem was desorientation, especially in patient's own home. Conversation with a specialist and patient's family, studying loss of orientation and patient's reactions in stressful times helped with designing otientation bracelet concept which leads lost patient with a help of vibration on wrist and voice instructions. The fact that target population of this concept is a group of elderly which includes a whole range of other health related problems, I suggest upgrated version of said concept with built-in biometric sensors that monitor body temperature, heart rate and blood preasure. Stored data could be overview of patient's momental health condition and a quick alarm when something becomes abnormal or overview of health condition spaned over a longer period of time which would serve as a great help to medical staff.
