In my diploma work I have analysed three Matjaž Župančič’s works, namely The Class, Shocking shopping and Reklame, seks in požrtija. Through the text various issues, such as those of all kinds of violence, empty relationships and the role of social control mechanisms are opened and intertwined. The issue which is most exposed and to which I felt closely connected to while reading the texts, is the question of an individual’s identity. For that reason I have decided to focus on the topical questions connected with the characters’ identity. These characters lose connection with themselves for various reasons and adapt their physical and psychical traits to social demands. The personality change shown in the dramas occurs due to several factors. On the one hand there is just hiding of true identity, while other characters consciously consent to losing and changing their own personality.
