In the master's thesis, in order to ensure the fire safety of fuel tanks, we determined a hydraulic system for fire water with sea water pumping stations and associated pumps.
We described general measures for ensuring the fire safety of such facilities, taking into account legislative requirements in the field of fire safety and other regulations and standards in this field. On the basis of project requirements, we designed a hydraulic system of fire water, which was used to determine hydraulic resistances. For the needs of determining the appropriate pumps, we calculated the hydraulic resistance in two ways. First, using our own model, and then using the model in the PlantFLOW software package. We found that the results match the expected engineering tolerances. On the basis of the obtained results from the hydraulic analysis, according to the design requirements, we determined the appropriate type of pumps for ensuring the fire safety of fuel tanks.
