The main topic of the thesis is implication of a photo on a paper printing material using silk screen printing technology, while exploring the whole process to the final result, including everything from capturing the photos and rasterising to an actual printing.
The purpose of the thesis is exploring and setting the best conditions for photography, finding out how raster liniature and paper structure influence the reproduction of a raster photo. Final goal is to create a series of posters according to the research.
Theoretical part covers the topics that concern the whole process of creating a final result in experimental part. It is based on three main parts, starting with an introduction of a photography as a medium, touching more artistic aspect of it, following with a photography of human body, black and white mode and its basic elements of design. Then, it describes the basics of camera settings (aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposing time) and ambiental conditions. It explains High-Key and Low-key exposure and ends the chapter with basic explanation of the composition. In the following part it informs about rasterising, following with the information about printing, more specifically screen-printing, its properties, history and role in art (serigraphy), while pointing out Andy Warhol as its pioneer.
In the experimental part all the steps of creating the posters are explained more specifically, from taking the photos to the actual printing. In analysis and discussion we analyse reproduced raster dot more specifically and artistically present created series of posters.
