Abstract

Title:3D documentation and interpretation of lounger Gondola
Abstract:
In the thesis, the subject of research was the Gondola lounger, the work of the Slovenian industrial designer Oskar Kogoj. This lounger is an important part of Slovene cultural heritage, and it was found in a rather poor condition, therefore it was suitable for the project of 3D documenting and later 3D reconstruction and visualization. For documenting purposes, a large number of photos was taken from all sides of the lounger. Based on these photos, with the use of Autocad ReCap360 program, a 3D model with automatic photogrammetry was created. The resulting grid mesh was compared with the previously documented model obtained by scanning at the Slovenian Institute of Construction, and on the basis of this comparison, the photogrammetrically obtained model was selected to be more suitable for the continuation of the work. The grid mesh of the model was initially corrected, as it had considerable irregularities on the surface, and the bottom was open too. The texture and surface relief work followed, which further contributed to a more realistic appearance of the model. In the end, visualization was also prepared for the purpose of presentation. The Gondola lounger was placed in the living room environment, and based on this layout, an animation was made, where the camera captured the aforementioned composition from all sides. The animation was part of the presentation film during the exhibition at the Museum of Architecture and Design, where it was also possible to see the 3D-printed model of the lounger, which was printed on the basis of our 3D model at the Slovenian Institute of Construction.
