In master thesis we evaluated the scale and characteristics of the contemporary business zones visual impact. Our main goal was to define, which business zones have the largest impact on landscape visual quality in Ljubljana urban region (LUR). We were also researching, how public perceives contemporary business zones. After literature examination we concluded, that spatial planning of business zones in Slovenia lacks rationality and comprehensiveness. In addition, Slovenian environmental impact assessment procedure generally lacks visual impacts considerations. In empirical part of the master thesis we descriptively evaluated visual impact of the selected business zones. After identification and selection of the zones, we prepared visibility analysis, which were used as a basis for the descriptive landscape character evaluation. Visual impact assessments of business zones were done by selecting multiple interrelated criterions. Most contemporary business zones resulted with negative visual impact. Additionally, we also implemented online image-based survey about the visual preferences of the zones. Results show, that most respondents perceive business zones as a visually disturbing element in the landscape. Finally, we suggested possible measures for reducing negative visual impact of business zones in the future.
