Within the thesis, we prepared a catalog of calculating machines held by the Technical Museum of Slovenia. We summarized the whole production process which includes planning, photography, design, printing and finishing operations. The catalog includes the entire collection which currently comprises of 91 calculating machines from the beginning until the end of the 20th century. We wanted to present the collection in a simple but elegant manner in the form of a printed catalog. The main elements of the catalog are photographs taken in the technical museum depot.
In the theoretical part, the design of such prints and the acquisition of visual material are presented. We also described the software which is the main tool in the production of the catalog. The aim of the thesis is to produce a sample catalog of calculating machines which contains pictorial material which we acquired at the Technical Museum.
The experimental part presents photographs of museum objects and the processing of photographs. We described the whole process of designing and preparing for printing. The catalog was printed and bonded in the printing house. The type of binding was a booklet.
As a result of the thesis, a printed catalog will be created which will represent the museum collection and will be further upgraded and printed in several copies in the future. Furthermore, other machines that will join the collection later will be in the catalog.
