Politicization of the high-ranking civil servants at the highest positions is a kind of a form of political recruitment we could say. The directors of the municipal administrations are senior civil servants, who are in this position may be designated by the mayor, who is a politician official and has the power to do so. Politicization occurs at every level of governance, local, national and even transnational level. Most often has the notion of negative overtones because immediately given that it comes with topics for the exercise of certain political interests. The author of the diploma work researches the presence of politicisation in the municipal administrations of Slovenian municipalities. In particular, he is interested in how the politicization shows and the extent to which it is present. Through in-depth interviews and hypothetical questionnaires, the author found out that politicization is not present in the set up to the position of director of municipal administration, and that this position is setted up especially individuals who are trained, have skills and competences for this position. The interviewees assessed politicization as something very negative and controversial and draw attention to the important awareness of the functioning of the in favour of the public interest and public needs as this is crucial in the performance of their functions.
