Abstract

Title:ANALYSIS OF THE POTENCIALS OF CROWDSOURCING: DEVELOPMENT OF A MOBILE APPLICATION FOR PACKAGE DISTRIBUTION
Abstract:
Crowdsourcing is a business model, where a large group of individuals collaborate with a common goal of finding a solution to a problem. This business model brings new advantages and challenges to the public as well as the private sector, but it is increasingly used as an instrument for achieving creativity and distributed work. The purpose of the thesis was to research and analyse the business model of crowdsourcing around the world and the situation in Slovenia, to develop a mobile application that will work according to the principles of crowdsourcing and to identify the user experience of the mobile application, measured with an interview. In the first part of the thesis, we theoretically defined and described crowdsourcing and its differences in the public and private sectors. We have also presented some examples of crowdsourcing in the USA and Slovenia. The Slovene project Prevoz.org was used as the as the legal and conceptual starting point for creating our mobile application. The second, practical part of the thesis includes the development and documentation of the android mobile application and testing its usefulness. The theoretical analysis of crowdsourcing in the field of Slovenia has shown that, in the event of taking into account some of the characteristics of the Prevoz.org project, it is possible to perform services according to the principle of crowdsourcing, which is in accordance with the Slovene law on the prevention of illegal work and employment. The usability test showed that the test group responded positively to the use of the mobile application. The final product of the thesis is the prototype of the mobile application, which enables the use of crowdsourcing and highlights the missing service of sending shipments in Slovenia within a few hours with greater flexibility and without the intervention of other organizations and intermediaries. The prototype of the mobile application and findings from the theoretical analysis serve as a guide and motivation for potential crowdsourcing practitioners in Slovenia.
