MIG/MAG welding allows us to produce complex-shaped components, while it is important to set welding parameters correctly on a welding power source in order to manufacture products with the best characteristics and shapes.
This thesis describes the process of manufacturing walls with different fine settings for weld. In the first part of the experiment, weld beads were cooled with compressed air and the weld bead temperature was measured. We studied the effect of machine fine settings on arc ignition based on the weld bead shape made with filler wire. A test with different parameter settings was used to visually define the wall with the best weld characteristics. The settings applied for this wall were used to test the effect of different cooling techniques on weld bead appearance. An analysis of different cooling techniques provided results regarding productivity and weld bead appearance. We established that the best wall can be produced by varying the parameters that affect the initial arc ignition, and through the forced cooling of weld beads to a desired temperature.
