This thesis deals with idioms of comparison describing people’s character in Slovene dialects (for example: »as hardworking as a bee« (literal translation)). The first part of the assignment is dedicated to the review of dialect phraseology and its units. In the second part, maps of different dialects are represented. They were created on the basis of the dialectal material collected for each idiom. Every map is followed by a commentary section in which the idiom is explained, dialectal material represented, literary expressions cited, and the origin of individual lexemes provided. In the end, there is a part where individual idioms are geographically distributed and classified into groups according to their variability.
