The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the problem of occupational strain in first cycle teachers, and discusses the sources of strength and support they have available. This is followed by my findings about how the culture of the school and interpersonal relationships affect the teachers' work. In the empirical section of the thesis I research the occupational strain and support of the chosen first cycle teachers, with semi-structured interviews. The research is qualitative. The sample consists of six female first cycle teachers from three different primary schools in Škofja Loka.
The thesis concludes that all teachers participating in the research feel strained, indicating paperwork, working with children with special needs and large classes as most stressful and burdening. As a result, the majority of participants feel fatigue
