The work in the presentation of the financing and operation of the non-profit sector in
the research case of the organization of the Red Cross of Slovenia contains the study of
the origin, purpose, mission, goals and organization. On the basis of professional
literature, articles, media reports and public statements, I investigated the credibility of
operations and funding in accordance with the mission of the RCS as a charity
organization, as well as in accordance with the RCS statute and sectoral laws. I issued a
paper with a desire for better understanding the NPS and to show with the example from
the practice how the funding and operation of the RCS has led to critical points (which),
what are the consequences, and how to improve the situation. I explicitly revealed the
research descriptive and pictorial, whereby I used a qualitative method for
understanding, describing and signifying the topic, also for problem research and
verifying hypotheses. Other method I used is quantitative in analyzing the financing of
annual reports and financial statements. In the case of RCS-ZZ, I find that operation and
financing in co-dependency led under the leadership to financial holes, bad loans, debts,
illegal loans. In the media, I have found several high-profile scandals that point to
irregularities in the form of position abuse and recovery. I answered the question of how
and if this affected the entire organization and to what extent. All as a result of poor
management of the governing bodies. The complaints, losses and mistrust of the public
followed. In the last three years, improvements have been shown. The lost trust from the
public is slowly returning. On the basis of all financial statements, I confirmed the
overflow of funds, which is indispensable for both non-profit organizations and RCS-ZZ.
The majority of assets are tangible fixed assets owned by RCS, and the main source is
public funding by the FIHO and budgetary of public funds. Last but not least, I find that
the areas of activity of the RCS are much larger and wider than mere social and health
care. The research paper expands knowledge of the non-profit sector and the RKS and it is
practically useful as a framework for further research and possibly taking into account
improvements proposals.
