Abstract
Zanimalo me je, kako obsežna je in kdo jo sestavlja. Raziskava je potekala v več delih. Mladi, ki so sodelovali v njej, so svojo socialno mrežo orisali s pomočjo konvoj modela. V prvem delu raziskave sem izvedla sedem polstrukturiranih intervjujev. Izjave intervjujev sem z uporabo utemeljene teorije razvrstila v kategorije, ki so govorile o značilnosti odnosov in oseb v posameznikovi socialni mreži. Izsledki obeh delov raziskave nudijo vpogled v nekatere dimenzije socialnih odnosov mladih na prehodu v odraslost in ponujajo številne raziskovalne iztočnice.

Title:Relationships' structure within the network of social relations in emerging adulthood
Abstract:
In my thesis I researched emerging adults’ social network. I was particularly interested in its size and structure. The research had two parts. The emerging adults who participated in any of the two, represented their social network using the convoy model. With this model, the participant classifies some of the people he or she knows or is in touch with in three concentric circles, following a given criterion. The person creating the network is in the centrum of the formed convoy. The more the chosen people fit the given criterion, the bigger is the chance for them to be in the first or second circle. In my research, the participants were asked to follow the criteria of a person’s importance in their life while creating the convoy. I wanted to discover the implicit differential criteria emerging adults use when they assign a position to a person in one of the three circles. Seven semi-structured interviews were performed in the first part of the study. Using grounded theory, the information from the interviews was classified into categories revealing some features of the relationships and people in the convoy. In the second part of the study, questionnaire items were created based on the statements from the interviews. The online questionnaire was distributed to a large group of emerging adults. Participants were asked to rate a chosen person from each circle of the convoy according to the items. The social network of emerging adults is on average composed of 21 people that differ in certain features. Results have shown that the first and the second circle of the convoy are quite similar. Furthermore, results indicate a newly acquainted person can quite easily become part of the social network of the emerging adult(s), while they have stricter criteria when it comes to the people they insert in the first and the second circle. The findings are very interesting, and they open various questions that could be addressed in future research.
