Youth issues emerged as a subject of social science in the 1960s and through development, youth policy has become one of the most problematized areas of national politics. In Slovenia, a deeper engagement of youth politics began in the 1990s, but it was not until 2010, when Slovenia adopted its first law on the matter, that politics has been substantially inactive. The main goal of youth policies is to create appropriate living conditions for young people, which will enable them to participate and cooperate socially. In this regard, the active involvement of young people in the formation and implementation process of all policies has a significant role. The problems that young people are facing today, through their social activities, also reflect on existing politics and at the level of democracy. The topic discussed in this thesis relates to youth policy in Slovenia and the involvement of young people in the social processes through various forms of participation, which is a precondition for improving the position of this social group. The main goal of the master's thesis is to determine, whether we can speak about Slovenian youth as apathetic. Also to conclude what their attitude towards political participation is and what they communicate with their actions.
