Sport is derived from the human nature and with sporting activity man creates a specific world. One of the goals of sports law is or should be the protection of human rights that belong to all people. Sport is one of the best human rights ambassadors, but athlete's rights are an unexplored field where there is still a gap between the desired results and athlete's rights and freedoms. In theory, various options for resolving disputes, both peremptory and autonomous, have been developed. The main body of my thesis is an overview of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. The work is set in the light of the specificity of the sport, which causes a wide range of possible violations of human rights. I further examine the possible future of this topic before the ECtHR, in view of the likelihood of a hearing before the court.
Both law and sport are part of our lives and there is no sport without law.
