Abstract

Title:Assessment of forest ecotopes in forest management unit Lovrenc na Pohorju
Abstract:
In the area of forest management unit Lovrenc na Pohorju, we assessed the structural diversity of forests and the possibilities of using remote sensing methods for assessing forest ecotopes. We assessed the structure of forests with stand density and diversity indicators and compared them between different site types and forest stand structures. We delimited forest stand structures with segmentation of the digital canopy height model, which was made on the basis of laser scanning data of Slovenia. In the segments with lower average tree heights we estimated a higher variability of tree heights. Using lidar data, we evaluated the effects of development phases, sites, altitudes, and topographic positions on the canopy height structure. On the basis of satellite imagery from Sentinel-2 mission, we displayed the seasonal course of NDVI values for european beech, silver fir, creeping pine and norway spruce stands. On the basis of phenological differences in leaf unfolding, it was possible to distinguish beech, pine and spruce stands.
