Abstract
Anketo je pripravila European Cooperation in Science and Technology (Evropsko sodelovanje v znanosti in tehnologiji) za članice Evropske unije v okviru projekta Sustainable production of high-quality cherries for the European market (Trajnostna pridelava visokokakovostnih češenj za evropski trg), mi pa smo jo prevedli in nekoliko prilagodili. Najpogosteje so izbrali sladek (52 %) in kislo-sladek (41 %) okus.

Title:Slovene, what kind of sweet cherry do you like?
Abstract:
A survey has been conducted to determine what kind of sweet cherries Slovenes like the most, i.e. which properties are the most important to them when buying sweet cherries. The questionnaire was prepared by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology for European Union member states as a part of the project Sustainable production of high-quality cherries for the European market. The questionnaire was translated into Slovene and slightly adapted. The original questionnaire was modified so that the respondents chose their answers to some of the questions solely based on pictures, without reading descriptions. The survey was carried out among the visitors of a sweet cherry exhibition at the Fruit Growing Centre in Bilje, Slovenia in 2014, and among acquaintances in the regions of Goriška and Prekmurje in 2018. The total number of interviewees was 100. Respondents at the exhibition preferred cherries that ripen in mid-season (47%) while the other respondents did not find the ripening period important (50%). For the exhibition attendees the favourite skin colour was orange red (50%), while the non-attendees preferred red (47%). Orange-red and red cherries were equally popular among both genders. Most of the respondents chose the sweet (52%) and sweet-sour flavour (41%) as their favourite. The favourite shape among men was cordate, and oblate among women. Men preferred smaller cherries (21,4-25,4 mm) than women (25,4-29,8 mm). Younger respondents preferred sweet (63 %) while the older ones preferred sweet-sour cherries (54 %). All groups liked firm cherries (78 %). The majority of respondents (95 %) like cherries with medium long stalks (63 %). Based on the respondents' answers, the most important property of sweet cherries is the flavour.
