In the master thesis we have explored how a relationship addicted person experiences his or her parents and that of his or her partners'.
In the theoretical part we introduced the critical review of literature dealing with the field of relationship addiction, addicted person’s childhood and partnerships and the field of relationship addiction recovery.
The survey has been made by using the qualitative method of scientific research. By using phenomenological psychology method we wanted to gain a view into addicted person's experiences. Semi-structured interview has been used on all five people participating in the survey.
The survey revealed that relationship addicted people, who have bad relations with their parents, might develop positive relationships with their partner's parents if they feel accepted, heard and respected, which they might have missed in the relationships with their own parents.
We have also found out that a person's low self-esteem, resulting from a relationship addiction, can be improved by partner's parents if he or she is given even the smallest amount of attention and time so much missed from his or her own parents.
