The main purpose of this work was to determine how the system with rubber pads and minimal bedding affects the behavior of horses, the quality of the air in the stable and the economy of farming compared to the system without rubber pads and 5 cm of the bedding. The research was conducted at the farm research center PRC Krumperk. It included 8 Lipizzaner horses, of which two stallions, 3 mares and 3 castrates. We monitored the behavior for four weeks, indirectly through cameras every day from 22:00 to 6:00. During the same period, during the supply of horses (twice a day) we recorded the duration of box cleaning, sawdust consumption, temperature, humidity and the content of ammonia, hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide. We found out that in the system of rubber pads there were more research into the environment, comfortable behavior with grooming and lying, and more frequent urination and blasting. The air quality was normal in both systems. From an economic point of view, however, we have found that in the rubber pads system we reduce the costs of sawdust and due to the short duration of the cleaning of the box, also the labor costs. The return on investment in pads ranges between -3.66% and 20.98% depending on the time spent by the horse in boxing or in the discharge.
