In the laboratory field of the Biotechnical Faculty, a preliminary experiment was carried out in 2016 with seven species of cannabis. With the Wintersteiger seed drill, monoecious and dioecious species of hemp were sown with 12.5 cm and 50 cm spacing between the rows. Taking into account the 90% seed germination, various quantities of seeds were used for sowing. The study examined the height of the plants, the influence of the variety and the way of sowing on the number of plants per square meter and the diameter of the stems, as well as the yield of the seeds and stems. Hemp varieties were sown in four random blocks. The most successful was 'Futura 75', which had produced the most stems and seeds. We have analyzed the stems of 12 hemp varieties from the experiment carried out in 2017 (Flajšman et al.). We also prepared permanent histological preparations which were examined by »CellSens Dimension«. The highest number of fibers was in the 'KC Dóra', while the smallest amount of fibers was in the varieties 'Fedora 17' and 'USO 31'. The largest average surface area of the fibers was measured in the 'Fedora 17' variety and the smallest surface area in the 'Tiborszallasi' variety. While 'USO 31' had the highest cell wall thickness, the smallest cell wall thickness was found in the 'Futura 75' variety.
