Abstract
Rastlinska čistilna sredstva so odstranila le 4 do 18 % bakterijskih celic E. coli s površine.

Title:
Efficiency of conventional and natural cleaning agents based on plant extracts for controlling bacterial adhesion : master thesis
Abstract:
Introduction: Microorganisms adhered on surfaces can represent a source of contamination and consequently pose a health risk for humans. In the food industry they are a common cause of food spoilage. Purpose: The purpose of our research was to compare the efficacy of conventional and plant-based cleaning agents for removing E. coli bacterial cells from a glass surface. We compared the efficacy of removing microorganisms with the toxicity index of each individual cleaning agent used. Methods: Using a microscope we count the number of bacterial cells on the surface of the glass before the glass was exposed to the cleaning agent and then after the exposure to the cleaning agent. No physical force was used. Results: Conventional cleaning agents were more effective in removing bacterial cells, removing between 20 % and 45 % of bacterial cells. Plant-based cleaning agents removed between 4 % and 18 % of bacterial cells. The effectiveness of the cleaning agent also depends on the used concentration. Discussion and conclusion: Conventional cleaning agents are more effective in removing bacterial cells. All cleaning agents were most effective at the highest tested concentration of 20 %. The most effective cleaning agent was not the most acute toxic. And the least acute toxic cleaning agent was not the least effective.
