Abstract

Title:
Catching time/The maquette of my life
Abstract:
In the master thesis Maquette of My Life I intrepret my art work that was made between the years 2015 and 2016 and different aspects of experiencing time. Through those interpretations I try to answer what is the sense of my personal instinct to create – the same instinct that fights against its own mortality. In the theoretical part I investigate the following questions – what is time, how it began and how people experience it. I expose the main historical definitions of time and thoughts of thinkers about the passing of time and the human position in time. I find references in Marko Uršič's book Four Seasons: Summer. I also present Proust's view on intuition and human perceiving of reality. In the second part I try to explain my work by intuitive observation. Those works were made by analysing and understanding of personal feelings and the environment surrounding me. This is how I wanted to come as close as possible to myself and find the sense of my existance and my role as an artist. Throughout the work I try to find a pure and original thought that could help me understand my anxiety coming from loosing life – time. I connect the findings and thoughts from the second practical part with the philosophical interpretations from the first theoretical part of the thesis and vice versa.
