Turbidity is a reflection of water quality and is one of the first characteristics of water that we notice. Turbidity occurs as a consequence of the presence of suspended particles in water, which we ordinarily do not see individually. These particles can be algae, dirt, minerals, proteins, oils or even bacteria. In the context of this dissertation, I presented the factors, which affect water's aesthetical properties, rather than health suitability of water, statutory boundaries in the field of water quality, and quality of water from the stand point of turbidity. The purpose of the dissertation was to use laboratory testing with artificially caused turbidity, using organic and inorganic additions, to check the influence of age of the sample and conditions of keeping the sample, depending on the source of turbidity and its measured values.
