Introduction: A wide range of materials can be used to create permanent dental prostheses. The most popular ceramics are ceramics containing zirconium oxide, commonly known as zirconia. Its intended use and indications are becoming increasingly widespread. Zirconia-based ceramics are used to produce root pins, CAD/CAM crowns, full anatomic onlays, special-purpose onlays, conventional and Maryland bridges, telescopic crowns, implants etc. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to present the manufacturing process of a special-purpose onlay within prosthetic construction with zirconium oxide using CAD/CAM technology and subsequently manufacturing a partial denture with metal framework in order to assure a complete combined prosthetic care. Methods: Overview of foreign and Slovene scientific and professional literature and presentation of laboratory procedures in a dental laboratory. Results: Production of a special-purpose onlay on the teeth number 33, 34, 44 and 45, production of a distal attachment on the teeth number 34 and 45 and production of partial denture with metal framework. Discussion and conclusions: Zirconium oxide ceramic is a material that is already widely used in dental prosthetics. In the future, due to its mechanical, aesthetic and functional properties, this material will be used even more and developed for even more difficult dental prosthetic restorations.
