In near future, mobile devices will become an indispensable accessories for teaching. The development of new devices takes place very quickly and all students have access to them. They spend a lot of their time using them, and the task of the teachers is to try to redirect them to using their devices for applications that have educational content.
In my master's thesis, I described four applications that we developed for the Android operating system. In order to create these applications, we used the MIT app Inventor software, which does not require prior knowledge of computer programming. The applications are designed with combining different components with each other.
Examples of applications based on bluetooth connections with the Arduino electronic development environment are: the lighting of the LEDs, the measurement of the voltage on the potentiometer, the angle of rotation of the servo motor and the distance measurement with the Arduino ultrasonic sensor. We also described the entire application development proccess for all the applications. Applications have a two-way exchange system of information between the mobile device and the Arduino microcontroller.
Each of the applications was placed in the Slovenian curriculum and connected it with an experiment in science subjects and in tehnology.
With this, we wanted to give Slovenian teachers the opportunity to make science subjects and techniques more popular with young people by using new technologies. Student's mobile devices could be used by pedagogical workers in various school projects, finishing tasks, research tasks, competitions, etc.
